Historic First Lutheran and the COVID-19 Pandemic

As our nation and the peoples of the world struggle to deal with the impacts of the novel coronavirus, we continue to look in faith to our loving God for strength, guidance and deliverance.

Our goal is to maintain full compliance with requirements as we joyfully re-open corporate worship inside the church.  These requirements are by the City of Pasadena, the State of California, and the County of Los Angeles.

Note: During the earlier stages of the pandemic, in order to assist our members and our community in avoiding, slowing and, eventually, eliminating the virus' spread, we temporarily suspended our Sunday School, Bible classes, Wednesday Services, meetings and other group events in accordance with directives from the City of Pasadena and the State of California.

As the situation continues to improve, we are carefully re-starting these important parts of our church life and will provide updates.

Health Protocols for All Services and Activities:

1)  Please perform a personal health screening prior to coming to church.  Please stay home if you are not feeling well for any reason.

2)  Covid vaccinations are highly recommended.

3)  A weekly worship reservation system will continue to be used for all activities and services.

4)  Properly worn face coverings – covering both the nose and mouth - are recommended on the church campus at all times.  The church will provide face coverings, as needed.

5)  Physical distancing of 6 feet at all times on the church campus is highly recommended.

6)  The Church Narthex restroom will be available for limited use, as will the restrooms in Koch Hall (preferred).

7)  Individual, contact-less, distanced communion will continue to be practiced.

Please Note:

Historic First Lutheran will always do its best to create the safest environment for all staff and worshipers, including providing indoor and outdoor worship alternatives with distanced seating, in addition to providing gloves, masks, hand sanitizer, etc., upon request.  However, due to the changing nature of Covid and due to circumstances beyond the control of Historic First Lutheran, there remains a small, potential possibility of infection and each worshiper voluntarily accepts that personal risk.

MIDWEEK LENTEN SERVICES:

ST. JOHN'S PASSION

Ash Wednesday and Lent come crashing into our lives this month.  Easter is just around the corner! But, as with Advent and Christmas, we must walk through a valley before we arrive at the mountaintop.

During Lent this year, we will be turning our attention to the Passion of our Lord Jesus from the Gospel of St. John.  We will especially consider the Divine majesty and glory of Jesus that's hidden under His suffering and death.  We pray that God's Holy Spirit will imprint the image of Christ crucified upon our minds, hearts, and consciences.
