Bulletin Announdements from 10/23/2011

ALTAR FLOWERS are given to the glory of God by Pastor Christopher Schaar in honor of the birthday of his Dad this past Tuesday and in loving memory of the 89th Birthday of his Grandmother, Charlotte Thorsen.

A REMINDER OF GOD’S LOVE The additional bouquet of roses on the altar are from the more than 150 bushes on our church campus. They are a reminder to us of God’s love and constant provision for all our needs.

LUTHERAN MALARIA INITIATIVE UPDATE! As of last Sunday (10/16), we’ve collected $1,000.76 toward our goal of $2,500.00 to wipe out malaria deaths on the continent of Africa by the year 2015. We have two weeks left to close the gap and send a message to the entire world that everyone can make a difference in the lives of those who live far away. Even $1.00 can save the life of a child or woman, those particularly affected by this disease! Let’s dig deep! Let’s approach friends, neighbors and co-workers. We CAN do this!

ALTAR GUILD ANNUAL MEETING The Altar Guild will have a light luncheon meeting in the Green Room on Sunday 30 October after worship. President Shelly Daniels invites all current and prospective members to attend!

FOOD DRIVE Two weeks (10/30) from today we will again collect non-perishable food items to benefit the food pantry of the Ecumenical Council of Pasadena Area Churches. Most needed items include peanut butter & jelly, tuna, soups, cereals (hot & cold), pasta & pasta sauce, rice (bags/boxes), canned vegetables, canned fruit, macaroni & cheese, baby food, beans / chili, canned meats (stews, etc.), crackers, fruit juices, flower/sugar/powdered milk, instant potatoes / stuffing mix, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie mix, muffin and bread mixes, jello, pudding, cake & cookie mixes and frosting.

FOUND LAST SUNDAY! A pair of women’s sunglasses was found following last Sunday’s Oktoberfest picnic on the field. If you think they belong to you, please speak to Pastor Schaar.

NEST SUNDAY: WEAR RED! As we next Sunday celebrate the 494th Anniversary of the Reformation of the Church, everyone is encouraged to wear red clothing!

PASTOR SCHAAR TO SPEAK Pastor Schaar has been asked to be one of several speakers at the Reformation Convocation sponsored by Circuit 11 of the Pacific Southwest District on Sunday 30 October from 2 - 5 p.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Hacienda Heights. If interested in more information, please speak to Pastor.

THANK YOU! For fear of leaving someone out, we won’t even attempt to print specific thanks to EVERYONE who made last Sunday’s annual Oktoberfest celebration a truly wonderful, enjoyable event. If you played ANY role in the overall event, please accept all our heartfelt thanks! What a great day was enjoyed by all! THANKS!

TWO WEEKS FROM TODAY We celebrate All Saints’ Sunday and the Commemoration of the Faithful Departed on Sunday 6 November. Always a touching service, during worship with the ringing of a bell we will remember those from our congregation and from our circles of families and friends who have died during this past year. We will also dedicate our Steinway “B” and the new All Saints’ Garden. A luncheon will follow worship. Invite family and friends!

120TH ANNIVERSARY COMMITTEE The next meeting of our 120th Anniversary Committee has been moved to Sunday 20 November in the Green Room after worship. Additional members are welcome to join the committee!

USHERS: TAKE NOTE Next week’s service will involve Usher Team #4 – Doris Barnes, Taina Feher and Paul Nagle.
