ALTAR FLOWERS are given to the glory of God by Corine and Lanie Motley in thanksgiving to God for His many blessings and in loving memory of the birthday of their grandmother, Cora Bryant. Flowers are also given to the glory of God by Charlie and Gerald Freeny in loving memory of the birthday of their sister and aunt, Pat Overshoun.
A REMINDER OF GOD’S LOVE The additional bouquet of roses on the altar are from the more than 150 bushes on our church campus. They are a reminder to us of God’s love and constant provision for all our needs.
NEXT SUNDAY Pastor Schaar and the Board of Elders will lay hands on, anoint and bless our three young men heading off or heading back to college. A fellowship luncheon will follow worship.

THAT’S A LOT OF PENNIES! For the month of July, we collected $112.00 in our “Mighty Mite” boxes, forwarding the proceeds to the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. That brings our total collection during 2011 to a whopping $1,619.00 to support mission work around the world. And that’s a lot of pennies!
AND A LOT OF CANS Last Sunday’s non-perishable food collection yielded a total of 387 items. That’s short of our goal of 500 items, but is most likely the largest one-day collection we’ve ever had! The items were delivered to the Ecumenical Council of Pasadena Area Churches this past Wednesday. Thank you for your generosity!
THREE WEEKS FROM TODAY We will baptize Tatiana Maravilla, daughter of Elena Marchany and granddaughter or Felix Marchany, during worship on Sunday 28 August.
