Bulletin Announcements from 6/19/2011

ALTAR FLOWERS are given to the glory of God by Ocilda and Bill Files in praise and thanksgiving to the Lord for “their June birthdays:” Logan on 6/7; Erich on 6/22 and Ocilda on 6/23. Altar Flowers are also given to the glory of God by Marlene and John Ochetti to thank God for all the blessings He has bestowed upon them, including their family, their church and their 18th Wedding Anniversary.

A REMINDER OF GOD’S LOVE The additional bouquet of roses on the altar are from the more than 150 bushes on our church campus. They are a reminder to us of God’s love and constant provision for all our needs.

OUR WHITE PARAMENTS The paraments on our altar , lectern and pulpit were donated as memorial gifts in loving memory of Paul W. Daniels, 1923-1984. They are white for Trinity Sunday. White is the color for purity, holiness and righteousness. Our particular parament set is called “The Great I Am.” The altar parament includes the Cross in the center, surrounded by the words “I Am,” a reminder of many of Jesus’ claims about Himself. A “Chi Ro” rises out of the top of the Cross, representing the first two Greek letters of the Name “Christ.” On the extreme sides of the altar parament are the Greek letters “Alpha” and “Omega,” reminding us that Christ is the Beginning and the End. The lectern parament contains the combined Cross and “Chi Ro” seen on the altar parament. The pulpit parament contains the Alpha and the Omega seen on the altar parament. Particularly designed for the Easter Season (although also used for Christmas and Epiphany), our parament set contains what looks to be lightning flashes, reminding us of the brilliance of the Christmas Star and the Resurrection of Jesus.

NEXT SUNDAY! We will celebrate Pastor Schaar 17th Anniversary during worship with an almost-exact service as was conducted on 26 June 1994 when he was installed as our pastor.

PORTALS OF PRAYER Free copies of the July-September edition of “Portals of Prayer,” in either regular or large print, can be found in the Information Rack in the Narthex.
