Bulletin Announcements from 5/22/2011

ALTAR FLOWERS are given to the glory of God by Rudy Melinat in loving memory of Gloria and Rudy’s wedding anniversary on 16 May and in celebration of his 95th birthday TODAY!

THANK YOUS! Special thanks have been received from “Get On the Bus!” for our collection of 29 teddy bears to comfort children as they traveled to visit their mothers in jail on Mother’s Day. While 29 teddy bears may not seem substantial, there was this year a greater number of children visiting their mothers in jail, so our gifts were greatly appreciated. In addition, a written thank you has been received from the Ecumenical Council of Pasadena Area Churches for our collection of 140+ non-perishable food items which supported their food pantry. Thanks have also been received from LCMS Human Care and World Relief for our $1,590.00 contribution to the Japan Earthquake Relief Fund.

CAROL NUMRICH TO BE HONORED! The Los Angeles Chapter of the Association of Fund-raising Professionals will bestow The Barbara Marion Award for Outstanding Leadership upon church member Carol Numrich on Thursday 9 June at 11:45 a.m. at the Pasadena Convention Center. This is a great honor recognizing Carol’s more than 40 years of ethical and exemplary service to the Association. If you would like to attend this event and celebrate along with Carol, checks in the amount of $50.00 per person should be made payable to AFP, GLAC Chapter, and mailed to 1820 W. Orangewood Ave., Suite 111, Orange, CA 92868. Make sure to note your desire to be seated at one of Carol’s tables! Congratulations, Carol!

SPECIAL BLESSING PLANNED FOR SUNDAY 5 JUNE Chris Silva, grandson of Darleen and Henry Hubert, has enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. We will have a special blessing for him on Sunday 5 June. All former military personnel will be asked to lay hands on Chris. Please plan now to attend!

DONATIONS CONTINUE TO BE RECEIVED A reminder that gifts in memory of loved ones continue to be collected to fund and maintain our new “All Saints’ Garden,” which will be developed in the Church Administrative Center area of the center courtyard this summer as the Eagle Scout Project of Daniel Hendry. To date, $1,800.00 has been received. For each donation of $100.00 or more, you may add the name of one loved one to the dedicatory plaque to be installed on All Saints’ Sunday during the formal dedication of the garden. Please use one of your designated envelopes – or a pew envelope – clearly marking your gift for the “All Saints’ Garden” and including the name(s) and birth and death dates of your loved one(s).

USHERS: TAKE NOTE Next week’s service will involve Usher Team #3 – Asunta Barnes, Michael Dickens.
