A NEW YEAR! A NEW START! At the start of this new year, a very special invitation is extended to all members or regular worshipers of Historic First Lutheran to get involved in Christian growth opportunities provided you. Sunday Morning Adult Bible Study and Children’s Sunday School is at 9:00 a.m. (Bible class in the Green Room; Sunday School in Koch Hall). PRAYER FORCE ONE meets in the Sanctuary every Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. for a half-hour of powerful prayer. Bible / Prayer Breakfast is the fourth Saturday every month at 8:00 a.m. in the Green Room. If you’re not involved in at least one of these spiritual growth opportunities, get a new start in this new year! You’ll be warmly welcomed!
THIS IS VERY VERY IMPORTANT! Final contribution statements (for 2010 tax purposes) will be mailed you this week. PLEASE review these statements immediately, reporting any potential errors or omissions to the Church Administrative Center (626.793.1139) by Wednesday 2 February. We must set this date because we cannot “open” our 2011 fiscal year until we “close” all aspects of our 2010 fiscal year. After 2 February we will be unable to change your statement.
NEXT SUNDAY Bring your “Mighty Mite Boxes” filled with coins and bills for missions. You may pick up a “Mite Box” today from the table in the Narthex. Return it next Sunday filled with change. Every penny collected gets mailed to support worldwide missions!
WAY TO GO! During 2010, our Mite Box and Missions donations totaled $3,117.39! Each one of those pennies collected was sent to the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and is already producing Gospel results! Thanks for your generosity!
LAYING DOWN YOUR FLEECE If you missed last Sunday’s sermon, special copies are available from the table in the Narthex. And if you’ve not yet completed your “Fleece” sheet to be added to our collection on the altar, additional copies are available also from the table in the Narthex.
NEW PRAYER PROCEDURES FOR 2011 We liberally add the names of family and friends to our weekly congregational prayer list (praying for each by name) and to our weekly Prayer Force One. Most times people do not inform the office when names can be removed from our lists so our list becomes “bulky” at times. Starting today, new prayer lists will be formed every month, so make sure to list requested prayers for the coming month on the back of your attendance card the last Sunday every month or call or email your requests to Pastor Schaar by the first Wednesday every month. On Sundays when our congregational prayer time does not include specific names, “Prayer Sheets” will be available from the table in the Narthex for you to take home with you and include in your daily prayers.
