Bulletin Announcements from 9/12/2010

ALTAR FLOWERS are given to the glory of God by Lanie Motley in celebration of the birthday of her sister, Corine.

A REMINDER OF GOD’S LOVE The additional bouquet of roses on the altar are from the more than 150 bushes on our church campus. They are a reminder to us of God’s love and constant provision for all our needs.

PASTOR IS NOT PSYCHIC! With more than 200 members, 6 employees, 3 acres of property, 8 buildings, 4 tenants and his responsibilities with the Association of Downtown Lutheran Churches and the Pacific Southwest District (planning the 2012 convention) as part of his daily administration, Pastor Schaar cannot possibly be aware of things unless he’s specifically told. So, if you are in need of personal or corporate prayer, are entering the hospital, are recuperating from surgery, desire private communion or have something that is bothering you, please call Pastor. Unless you or a friend or family member calls him, he cannot psychically respond to your needs!

NEW SINGERS AND RINGERS SOUGHT Our Sanctuary Choir resumes weekly rehearsals on Tuesday 21 September at 7:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Our Omega Handbell Choir resumes weekly rehearsals on Tuesday 21 September at 6:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary. New members are invited to join! No experience is needed! Please note the change in start date for our Sanctuary Choir.

NEXT SUNDAY Our annual “Milestones” Celebration is scheduled for next Sunday during our 10:00 a.m. worship. Honored this year will be Arline Pace (90th Birthday), Clara Gaabo (95th Birthday), and Ocilda and Bill Files (60th Anniversary). We will also recognize former parish secretaries Eve Carter and Lorraine Cash on their 90th Birthdays. Handbell soloist Linda Krantz will provide special music. A luncheon will be served in the gym after worship.

MISSING GREETER’S BADGES If you have mistakenly wandered home with a “Greeter’s Badge” still attached to your clothing, please return it! We’re down to one remaining badge. Thanks!

PASTOR-TO-PEOPLE HOME VISITS The sign-up sheets for an one-hour home visit from Pastor Schaar are posted on the easel in the Narthex. Dates and times throughout September are available.

NEXT SUNDAY Bring your “Mighty Mite Boxes” filled with coins and bills for missions. You may pick up a “Mite Box” today from the table in the Narthex. Return it next Sunday filled with change.

CALL ANYTIME AGAIN! The church phone lines and answering machine are again working properly. You may again leave messages day or night!

A SURE SIGN OF GROWTH AND CHANGE It used to be, as an “older” congregation, few of our members traveled on holiday weekends. As you can see from last Sunday’s attendance, that is largely no longer the case. To all you who were absent from worship last Sunday, WELCOME BACK!

HELP PREVENT A FALL! If you or your children snack during worship, please make sure to pick up anything that falls on the floor. We’ve recently found a lot of candy, cookie pieces and sunflower seeds on the floor. Please help prevent a fall.

PORTALS OF PRAYER The October - December edition of “Portals of Prayer” is available free of cost in small print and large print from the Information Rack in the Narthex.

MISSING BIBLE Our weekly “Prayer Force One” purchased its own large print Bible with a “Chronicles of Narnia” Bible cover. The Bible went missing this past week from its normal storage location in Pastor’s sacristy. If you “borrowed” it, please return it.

$251.00 RECEIVED ALREADY! Through your allocation of Thrivent Choice dollars to Historic First Lutheran, we’ve already received $251.00! If you’ve not already directed Thrivent to allocate your Thrivent Choice dollars to us, please do so!

USHERS: TAKE NOTE Next week’s service will involve Usher Team #2: Zora Oglesby and Chad Schmutzer.
