ALTAR FLOWERS are given to the glory of God by Doris Barnes in celebration of the birthday of Ann Price and in loving memory of the birthday of her mother, Beulah Price. Flowers are also given to the glory of God by Ocilda and Bill Files in thanksgiving to God for blessing them with 60 years of marriage on 3 August and for their family.
A REMINDER OF GOD’S LOVE The additional bouquet of roses on the altar are from the more than 150 bushes on our church campus. They are a reminder to us of God’s love and constant provision for all our needs.
WELCOME! We’re happy to welcome Kim Wozniak as the newest member of Historic First Lutheran. Kim was received by affirmation of faith, having previously been a lifelong member at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Dolton, IL. Make sure to warmly welcome Kim!
HYMNS YOU USED TO LIKE TO SING A recent survey of our church pews found that a good number of our “Hymns You Like to Sing” are missing. If you have accidently or intentionally “borrowed” one of these song books, please return it!
LET NONE HEAR YOU IDLY SAYING, “THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO!” We have some vacant positions in our Sunday School ministry for this fall. Please speak to Bernadette Hendry if willing to help.
PROJECT OFFICIALLY COMPLETE! This past Tuesday, Pastor Schaar conducted the final walk-through for the gym construction project. Besides some minor adjustments, the project is completed after 2 months!
WE ARE THE HOST! The fifth gathering of the Association of Downtown Lutheran Churches will be held here at Historic First Lutheran in April, 2011! Pastor Schaar is looking for volunteers to help plan and carry out this event. Speak to Pastor if you’d be willing to help.
DOLLAR BILL MINISTRY Pastor Schaar continues to collect dollar bills to distribute to the homeless around Pasadena. If you’d like to support this special ministry, slip your donated dollars to Pastor at the door after worship.
YES WE KNOW! If you’ve tried calling the church lately, you’ve discovered no answering machine picks up. We’re experiencing some phone line problems (the problem is not the answering machine) and are attempting to get everything working again soon!
USHERS: TAKE NOTE Next week’s service will involve Usher Team #3: Chris Baker, Asunta Barnes and Michael Dickens.
