ALTAR FLOWERS are given to the glory of God by Carol Schlichting and Michealene Melus in thanksgiving to God for the church family and His many blessings. Flowers are also given to the glory of God by Phyllis Price in celebration of the birthday of her wonderful mother, Mrs. Betty Barnett.
A REMINDER OF GOD’S LOVE The additional bouquet of roses on the altar are from the more than 150 bushes on our church campus. They are a reminder to us of God’s love and constant provision for all our needs.
WELCOME! We take this opportunity to officially welcome the two newest members of Historic First Lutheran: Karen Antley and Margarethe Stockli. Karen transferred her membership to us from Good Shepherd Lutheran, Charleston, SC. Margarethe joined through affirmation of faith. Please be sure to welcome these two women to our family here!
SERMONS A reminder once again that Pastor Schaar usually places printed copies of his sermons in the Information Rack in the Narthex immediately after worship services. These are free for the taking and are great to either take home for further reflection or to give to someone else you think might be helped by the sermon.
TWO WEEKS FROM TODAY!!! You will not want to miss our festive 118th Anniversary Service on Sunday 30 May. One bilingual service will be held that day at 10:00 a.m., with the service jointly led by Pastor Gómez and Pastor Schaar. Following the service, an “International Potluck” will be held in the Gym. Everyone is asked to bring an ethnic food of some sort to share potluck style. Tableware and drinks will be provided.
MILESTONE ANNIVERSARIES We’re sorry there seems to be so much confusion about honoring milestone membership anniversaries on 30 May. All those who have been members for 50 or more years will be recognized every year. Members with less than 50 years of membership will be recognized only in 5-year-increments (5/10/15, etc. years).
ALTAR FLOWERS Please note, if you have signed up to donate altar flowers that payment should be made directly to Lanie Motley or Shelly Daniels – and not put in the offering plate. Dedication requests should likewise be given to the Altar Guild person on duty and not put in the offering plate.
“THE” BAPTISM IS BACK ON! Due to miraculous changes last Sunday (ask Pastor if you don’t already know), “the” baptism of his newly born, newly adopted nephew, Luke Gregory Robbins, is scheduled for Father’s Day, 20 June 2010 during our morning worship. Proud parents are Julie and Greg Robbins. Proud grandparents are Marilyn Robbins and Karen & Dennis Schaar.
