STALKING DAY 5

LIVE from Key West Florida!

Thanks to those of you who let me know that you're stalking me. The daily posts will continue! I really don't mind sitting here at the hotel computer every morning with my cup of coffee posting these updates. Plus once I return they will produce a nice little trip memory for myself.

After being greeting with seering humidity mid-last week, things have changed due to Ida sitting down off Nicaragua in the Gulf. Temps are lower and humidity is hardly even noticable until you wipe your brow. You can tell the locals wearing their long sleeve t-shirts, hoodies and jeans. Funny! It's still like 80 degrees and they're acting like they're in Alaska.

Yesterday was a wonderful excellent day -- best so far I think. Sat on the beach (Atlantic side of the island) for about 3 hours. Enjolyed a funny steel drum performer serenade the beach crowd with the sounds of live reggae. Found a new cigar store (they're a dime a dozen here) but even that one failed me as I tried to make a couple real duds work.

Went to a show last night upstairs in the Crystal Room at La Te Da. Packed as always -- don't tell me the economy is that bad.

Florida still follows the old blue laws so no alcohol served anywhere till 12 Noon. So at 12 Noon I will be over at Louie's Backyard (Atlantic side right on the water) for Sunday brunch including the obligatory Mimosa at 12:01 p.m. along with everyone else. Louie's Backyard has been made famous in a Jimmy Buffet song.

The Parrotheads go home today and everyone here is ready for their departure. The Powerboaters come in this week.

My buddy John Solinski is on stage today starting at 3:30 p.m. so I will probably spend the afternoon with him. He always manages to work my name into songs which is always hilarious and impresses people sitting around me wondering how I know John and how he knows me. Makes me feel like a local.

Had my personal time of worship this morning on my walk around the Harborwalk (Key West Bight Marina -- Gulf side). Stood nursing a coffee starring out across the rolling water humming "Rise Up, O Church of God" and "This is My Father's World."

It's now time for me to get off this computer, put on the swim trunks, refill the coffee cup and hit the sun deck with the Sunday paper.

More tomorrow.............
