A REMINDER OF GOD’S PROVISION AND LOVE The extra bouquet of roses on the altar are from the 140+ roses around our church campus. They are a reminder of God’s eternal love for us.


WELCOME TO OUR NEWEST MEMBER! Please make sure to warmly welcome Julie Castañeda, our newest member. Julie was received by Affirmation of Faith, having previously been a confirmed member at Concordia Lutheran Church in Cerritos and Christ Lutheran Church in Brea. Welcome, Julie!


CHURCH ADMINISTRATIVE CENTER UPDATE You may have noticed the orange construction fence surrounding the Church Administrative Center. Demolition of the porch began last Thursday. The Center continues to be used during construction. Access is available only through the Center Courtyard. Ring the doorbell at the back door during normal business hours and wait for staff to respond.


OFFICIAL RESPONSE FROM THE SYNODICAL PRESIDENT The Reverend Dr. Jerry Kieschnick, President of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, has issued a formal response to the recent actions of The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America regarding homosexuality. Copies of this response are available from the Information Rack in the Church Narthex.

ALTAR FLOWER DONOR NEEDED The fourth Sunday in September is still in need of one or more people willing to donate flowers in honor or memory of someone. Altar flowers are $50.00 for both bouquets or $25.00 for sharing with someone else.


TWO WEEKS FROM TODAY Celebrate “Rally Day” on Sunday 13 September at 10:00 a.m. “Rally Day” worship will involve our youth. “Rally Day” also celebrates the hopeful growth and expansion of both our Children’s and Adult Sunday School Program.


“DOWNTOWN” NOW AVAILABLE The sixth issue of “Downtown,” edited by Pastor Schaar, is available from the Information Rack in the Church Narthex.


FUNERAL FOR CHARLES NEWHOUSE Fifty-one-year member Charles Newhouse died this past Monday evening at age 99! His funeral will be this Monday at 11:00 a.m., followed by burial at Mountain View Cemetery, followed by a luncheon back at the church. Please keep his wife of 75 years, Clara, and her family in your prayers.


USHERS: TAKE NOTE Next week’s service will involve Usher Team #4 – Doris Barnes, Taina Feher and Paul Nagle.
