ALTAR FLOWERS are given to the glory of God by Ocilda & Bill Files in celebration of their wedding anniversary. Flowers are also given to the glory of God by Doris Barnes in loving memory of her mother and in celebration of the birthday of Ann Price.
A REMINDER OF GOD’S PROVISION AND LOVE The extra bouquet of roses on the altar are from the 140+ roses around our church campus. They are a reminder of God’s eternal love for us.
HOME VISITS Pastor Schaar still has a number of days and times available for his “Pastor to People” Home Visits during the month of August. Please stop by the easel in the Narthex and sign-up for a one-hour visit from Pastor.
WORSHIP RESOURCES AVAILABLE Extra bulletin copies as well as printed copies of Pastor Schaar’s sermons are available from the Information Rack in the Narthex. These resources make it easy for you to share things with neighbors, family members or friends. They are all free for the taking!
SING A NEW SONG! Historic First Lutheran will be printing a new songbook for our pew racks that contain our favorite contemporary songs. These songbooks will be used on our Hymn Sing Sundays. Please write down a list of your favorite contemporary songs that are not contained in any of our other pew songbooks and submit that list to Pastor Schaar.
MONTHLY FINANCIAL UPDATE We ended the month of July with a deficit of $6,765.26 . All income sources are in line with anticipated income, with the exception of offering envelopes, which lags behind expectations by $5,770.26 . Please continue your faithful, generous contributions to Historic First Lutheran.
PROJECT TO COMMENCE! After almost 2 years of planning, working closely with the City of Pasadena’s Building and Safety Department and Historic Preservation Department, major work is set to begin on the Church Administrative Center in mid-August. The entire porch will be demolished and historically reconstructed, including the addition of a handicapped ramp from the center courtyard. Deteriorated window sills, door thresholds and 96-year-old cedar shake shingles will be repaired. Other exterior enhancements will also be included in this project, expected to last 2 months. This project is being generously funded by Mrs. Hilda Opel Mager, in loving memory of her late husband, Carl Nichols, and her late brother, Arthur William Opel.
USHERS: TAKE NOTE Next week’s service will involve Usher Team #7 – Gerald Freeny, Michealene Melus and Carol Schlichting.
