Bulletin Announcements from 7/19/2009

ALTAR FLOWERS are given to the glory of God in thanksgiving for Karen Schaar’s birthday and in celebration of the 42nd Anniversary of Karen and Dennis Schaar.

A REMINDER OF GOD’S PROVISION AND LOVE The extra bouquet of roses on the altar are from the 140+ roses around our church campus. They are a reminder of God’s eternal love for us.

A REMINDER The 68-year-old wood floor in the gym is being repaired and refinished. Due to this project there will be no access to or through the gym until this coming weekend.

COME TO THE GARDEN ALONE – OR WITH OTHERS! The Margaret Fackler Memorial Garden (between the Church and Koch Hall) is now complete. Formal dedication will happen this fall. Consider coming early to church and spend some time in the garden enjoying the beautiful plants, sitting on the bench, listening the gentle fountain.

JULY DATES STILL AVAILABLE Pastor Schaar still has a number of days and times available for his “Pastor to People” Home Visits during the month of July. Please stop by the easel in the Narthex and sign-up for a one-hour visit from Pastor.

OUR MONTHLY UPDATE The month of June saw us as a congregation move again from a balance to a deficit, mainly due to higher than anticipated utility bills, the payment of our quarterly Worker’s Comp. Insurance and almost $2,000. in repairs to one of our apartments. We ended June with a deficit of $3,662.69. In comparison, we ended June, 2008 with a deficit of $8,982,71, so, despite the sour economy, we are doing better than we were last year. You are again commended and thanked for your generous contributions and kindly encouraged to continue to generously support the Lord’s work that our congregation is doing here in Pasadena and around the world! THANKS!

EAT AND STUDY! This Saturday morning is our monthly Bible / Prayer Breakfast at 8:00 a.m. in the Green Room. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend this fun event. There is a $5.00 charge for breakfast. Bible Study is free!

WORSHIP RESOURCES AVAILABLE Extra bulletin copies as well as printed copies of Pastor Schaar’s sermons are available from the Information Rack in the Narthex. These resources make it easy for you to share things with neighbors, family members or friends. They are all free for the taking!

PLANNING BEGINS TODAY! Bernadette Hendry, Chair of our Board of Christian Education, will begin planning today for a great celebrative kick-off when our Sunday School resumes this September. If you’re interested in helping plan this event, please speak to Bernadette.

APARTMENT AVAILABLE Historic First Lutheran will have a large 3-bedroom (approximately 1,600 square feet) apartment on the church campus available for rent 1 September. The month-to-month rent is expected to be around $1,850.00. If you know of any QUALITY potential tenants (please don’t refer anyone with bad credit or previous bad rental history), please have them contact Pastor Schaar at the Church Administrative Center to apply.

USHERS: TAKE NOTE Next week’s service will involve Usher Team #5 – Rogelio Douglas, Henry Hubert, Yashar Kafi and Marlene Ochetti.
