ALTAR FLOWERS are given to the glory of God by Charlie Freeny in thanksgiving to God for His many blessings and in loving memory of the birthday of Evelyn Wrenn, her mother and Gerald’s grandmother. Flowers are also given to the glory of God by Karen, Jessie and J.J. Murphy in loving memory of the birthday of Peggy Murphy, Karen’s mother and Jessica and J.J.’s nana.
A REMINDER OF GOD’S PROVISION AND LOVE The extra bouquet of roses on the altar are from the 140+ roses around our church campus. They are a reminder of God’s eternal love for us.
OUR WHITE PARAMENTS The paraments on our altar , lectern and pulpit were donated as memorial gifts in loving memory of Paul W. Daniels. They are white for Trinity Sunday. White is the color for purity, holiness and righteousness. Our particular parament set is called “The Great I Am.” The altar parament includes the Cross in the center, surrounded by the words “I Am,” a reminder of many of Jesus’ claims about Himself. A “Chi Ro” rises out of the top of the Cross, representing the first two Greek letters of the Name “Christ.” On the extreme sides of the altar parament are the Greek letters “Alpha” and “Omega,” reminding us that Christ is the Beginning and the End. The lectern parament contains the combined Cross and “Chi Ro” seen on the altar parament. The pulpit parament contains the Alpha and the Omega seen on the altar parament. Particularly designed for the Easter Season (although also used for Christmas and Epiphany), our parament set contains what looks to be lightning flashes, reminding us of the brilliance of the Christmas Star and the Resurrection of Jesus.
A NOTE OF THANKS Dear Friends: Thank you for sending me your wonderful birthday congratulations and best wishes. Almost every day I would find some in my mailbox. I appreciate it very much and from the bottom of my heart, I’ll say thank you to all. Thank you! Helga Muder.
“MORE THINGS ARE WROUGHT BY PRAYER THAN PEOPLE DREAM” Those poetic words are quite true. Prayer not only help us solve personal and family problems, but can also help us adjust our attitude and give us the light to see God’s will and the strength to follow it. We invite you, if possible, to join us in prayer for your own needs and those of family, friends, loved ones, neighbors and those with sickness or dealing with grief. Every Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. we gather in a circle at the foot of our chancel to pray and remember all of you. Consider joining us with Pastor this coming Wednesday. You will be better for it. We all will be better for it. And our world will be a better place to live in. We sing a hymn, read a portion of scripture and pray. Our prayer service lasts one-half hour.
KNOW ANYONE? We have been notified that we will have a large 3-bedroom apartment available for rent later this summer. If you know any responsible people looking for housing, please contact Pastor Schaar.
GYM FLOOR TO BE REFINISHED For the first time in more than 15 years, the wood floor in the gym will be stripped and refinished beginning 6 July. The gym will be completely off limits for about 10 days. This project is being funded by the Property Improvement Fund, the Endowment Trust Interest Fund and the Ruth Hebor Endowment.
ONLY 13.33%! That’s right! Less than 14% of Pastor Schaar’s seminary classmates still serve in their original call after 15 years. That’s something to celebrate! Join us next Sunday as Pastor Stan Quebe climbs into our pulpit to preach for Pastor Schaar’s 15th Anniversary!
A FIRST FOR 2009! Thanks to your generous giving during the month of May, we actually are out of deficit spending for the first time during 2009. We ended the month of May with a BALANCE of $1,005.16! Thanks! And keep up the good work!
USHERS: TAKE NOTE Next week’s service will involve Usher Team #6 – Kevin Baumgartner, Daniel Hendry, Steven Hendry and James Price.
