A ROCKY START After a wonderful finish to 2008 financially, Historic First Lutheran has started off 2009 with a rocky start, incurring a $4,586.00 deficit during January. While total expenses were $1,180.00 below budgeted monthly spending, offering income was over $4,100.00 below budgeted expectations. Despite these tough economic times, please carefully consider your offerings to Historic First Lutheran. Also please add this situation to your daily prayers as God, indeed, is able to provide more than we can ever ask or expect.
MARDI GRAS SUNDAY Two weeks from today is our annual celebration of Transfiguration Sunday/Mardi Gras Sunday. An exciting “soft” praise band is being put together, including Mark McCormick’s brother, who will be here on vacation from Chicago. A fellowship luncheon will follow the service. Begin now to invite family and friends.
LUTHERAN WOMEN’S FELLOWSHIP Please save Saturday, March 7 on your calendar for our quarterly meeting. Our speaker is a woman who was imprisoned three times for sharing her Christian faith with family and friends. She was disowned by her father who wanted her to renounce her faith, but she clung to that faith. She now is in America continuing her religious studies. Luncheon will be served at 11:30 a.m.
TEDDY BEAR COLLECTION You can now bring your teddy bears to the Green Room for delivery to children who will celebrate Mother's Day this year with their mother at Chino Women's Prison. The cuddly bears give them comfort and a sense of security. Teddy Bears will be on sale after Valentine's Day so look for a good bargain. The bears should be medium or large in size, but not extra large. If you don't want to shop, you can earmark a gift for the Lutheran Women's Fellowship and we will purchase the bears for you. Open to all congregation members.
USHERS TAKE NOTE Next week’s service will involve Usher Team #4 – Doris Barnes, Taina Feher and Paul Nagle.
