ALTAR FLOWERS are given to the glory of God Lena Meyers in celebration of the birthday of her granddaughter, Monique Mattox, and her grandson, Matthew E. Douet.

A REMINDER OF GOD’S PROVISION AND LOVE The extra bouquet of roses on the altar are from the 140+ roses around our church campus. They are a reminder of God’s eternal love for us.

LUTHERAN WOMEN’S FELLOWSHIP The children of Madison Elementary School will again be the recipients of the Lutheran Women's Fellowship Outreach on Saturday, October 4. A number of these children attend our church as well as our “Good Friday” Youth Outreach. Leave your purchases in the Green Room on one of the benches. Also, the women of the church are invited to attend our opening program for the year. Our speakers will be Pastor and Mrs. Marcello Gómez who will discuss the ministry of our church. Invite friends and family to join. Program begins at 11:30 AM. Potluck of sandwiches or salads and desserts. Bring an item for 6 or make a donation for either the potluck or school items for the children to Carol Numrich, Ann Price, Jessica Valentine or Harriet Dickens.

MORE SPANISH BAPTISMS There will be a special Saturday baptismal service on 18 October at 1:00 p.m. during which Pastor Gómez will baptize 4 children.

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER The Eighth Annual Community Women’s Educational Health Conference and Exposition is scheduled for Friday 17 October at the Pasadena Hilton. Registration information can be found in the Information Rack in the Narthex.

ADVICE FOR THE COMMON CUP If you receive Communion using the “Common Cup” / Chalice, it would help Pastor immensely if you’d grab onto the bottom of the Chalice and guide it to your mouth, tipping it back until you have received enough. Pastor will also continue to hold onto the cup to steady it. Thanks!

CONGRATULATIONS! God’s richest blessings to Beth and Mike Campbell on the birth of Eleanor Paige. Eleanor weighed 7lbs. 5 oz. and measured 21 inches. Eleanor joins big sister, Madeline, and grandparents, Bev and Bob Campbell and Susan and Craig Halverson. Eleanor will be baptized here at Historic First Lutheran on Sunday 12 October.

LAST CHANCES FOR A HOME VISIT Pastor Schaar’s schedule for home visits is posted in the Narthex through the month of October. Sign-up if you’d like Pastor to stop by for a visit.

USHERS TAKE NOTE Next week’s service will involve Usher Team #1 – Bernadette Hendry, Greg Hendry and Ann Price.
