Bulletin Announcements from 9/21

ALTAR FLOWERS are given to the glory of God by Pastor Bill Fackler in recognition of the 61st anniversary of his ordination on 14 September 1947 at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in Detroit, Michigan and in gratitude for God’s many blessings and the honor of serving God, God’s people and our country.

A REMINDER OF GOD’S PROVISION AND LOVE The extra bouquet of roses on the altar are from the 140+ roses around our church campus. They are a reminder of God’s eternal love for us.

LUTHERAN WOMEN’S FELLOWSHIP The children of Madison Elementary School will again be the recipients of the Lutheran Women's Fellowship Outreach on Saturday, October 4. A number of these children attend our church as well as our “Good Friday” Youth Outreach. Leave your purchases in the Green Room on one of the benches. Also, the women of the church are invited to attend our opening program for the year. Our speakers will be Pastor and Mrs. Marcello Gómez who will discuss the ministry of our church. Invite friends and family to join. Program begins at 11:30 AM. Potluck of sandwiches or salads and desserts. Bring an item for 6 or make a donation for either the potluck or school items for the children to Carol Numrich, Ann Price, Jessica Valentine or Harriet Dickens.

NEXT SUNDAY Make sure not to miss our annual “Milestones Celebration” next Sunday. During worship, Dorothy Martin and Vesta Jamerson will be honored on their 90th birthdays and Claudia Proctor will be honored on her 95th birthday. A luncheon, prepared by the Joshuans Christ Care Group, will follow in the Gym.

MORE SPANISH BAPTISMS Pastor Gómez will baptize yet another infant during the 1:00 p.m. service today. Everyone is invited! In addition, there will be a special Saturday baptismal service on 18 October at 1:00 p.m. during which Pastor will baptize 4 more.

KEEP THE BODY IN SHAPE Everyone is invited to attend our Exercise Class every Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in the Gym.

PORTALS OF PRAYER The October - December edition of “Portals of Prayer” in both regular print and large print is available from the Information Rack in the Narthex.

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER The Eighth Annual Community Women’s Educational Health Conference and Exposition is scheduled for Friday 17 October at the Pasadena Hilton. Registration information can be found in the Information Rack in the Narthex.

ATTENTION ALL BRANCHES There will be a meeting of the Branches Christ Care Group today after worship in the back of the Sanctuary.

ADVICE FOR THE COMMON CUP If you receive Communion using the “Common Cup” / Chalice, it would help Pastor immensely if you’d grab onto the bottom of the Chalice and guide it to your mouth, tipping it back until you have received enough. Pastor will also continue to hold onto the cup to steady it. Thanks!

CONGRATULATIONS! God’s richest blessings to Beth and Mike Campbell on the birth of Eleanor Paige this past Tuesday. Eleanor weighed 7lbs. 5 oz. and measured 21 inches. Eleanor joins big sister Madeline and grandparents Bev and Bob Campbell and Susan and Craig Halverson. Eleanor will be baptized here at Historic First Lutheran on Sunday 12 October.

LAST CHANCES FOR A HOME VISIT Pastor Schaar’s schedule for home visits is posted in the Narthex through the month of October. Sign-up if you’d like Pastor to stop by for a visit.

USHERS TAKE NOTE Next week’s service will involve Usher Team #8 – Gerald Freeny, Michealene Melus and Carol Schlichting.
