ALTAR FLOWERS are given to the glory of God by Jessica Valentine in loving memory of the birthday celebration of her beloved mother, Eva E. Bailey, September 8. Flowers are also given to the glory of God by Doris Barnes in thanksgiving to God for all His many blessings.


A REMINDER OF GOD’S PROVISION AND LOVE The extra bouquet of roses on the altar are from the 140+ roses around our church campus. They are a reminder of God’s eternal love for us.


ASSOCIATION OF DOWNTOWN LUTHERAN CHURCHES As part of our strategic partnership with the Center for U.S. Missions, the Association’s “Downtown” newsletter will begin to be distributed electronically. All members of Historic First Lutheran are highly encouraged to log onto the Center’s website – www.centerforusmissions.org – and follow the links under “Newsletters” to electronically subscribe. While on the website you may also find lots of other helpful resources and newsletters you’d also like to subscribe to. Most of the resources are free for the requesting.


CONGRATULATIONS, CAROL SCHLICHTING! Carol was recently appointed to the Executive Leadership Council of Aramark. This council is an elite group of Aramark’s senior management from around the world. There are only 240 executives from around the world who have had the most impact upon Aramark to achieve its International Business Purposes. Congratulations, Carol, on this recognition of how you have used your God-given talents!


NEXT SUNDAY! Our worship service next Sunday will take the format of a prayer service. Please come prepared to lift up the needs of others in prayer.


TWO WEEKS FROM NOW Sunday 21 September will be a “Hymn Sing” Sunday. Please come prepared to pick your favorite hymn.

IN CHURCH PRAYERS We received notice last week that First Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Las Vegas prayed for our congregation last weekend. Their letter to us is posted on the bulletin board in the Gym.
