DID YOU KNOW? There’s probably much about Historic First Lutheran that many of us do not know. Watch weekly bulletins for “I DIDN’T KNOW,” a weekly historical or interesting tidbit of information about Historic First Lutheran.
THREE WEEKS FROM NOW IS MARDI GRAS SUNDAY! Plan now to attend this jazzy service which will include some of Historic First Lutheran’s own talented musicians. A doughnut reception (a European tradition for Mardi Gras) will follow the service.
I DIDN’T KNOW! Perhaps you didn’t know that our current Church building is the third building in the 115-year history of Historic First Lutheran. The first building, constructed in 1896, at a whopping cost of $856.00, was located at Walnut and Vernon, today the intersection of the 134/210/710 Freeways. The second building, constructed in 1914 at a cost of $9,815.00, is still standing, located on the north side of Orange Grove, just west of Los Robles. Today it is the home of Iglesia La Luz del Mundo.
